Starry, Starry Night

If I may start this story with the great lyrics of one amazing musician – Don McLean “Starry, starry night. Paint your palette blue and grey, Look out on a summer's day, With eyes that know the darkness in my soul. Shadows on the hills, Sketch the trees and the daffodils, Catch the breeze and the winter chills, In colors on the snowy linen land.”

How often do you stand below your building or in your balcony (if you have one in Bombay – you should answer yes!) and watch the stars in the sky, just before you go to sleep – if you own a Rolls Royce Phantom – the sunroof comes with a starlit panoramic roof, but jokes apart, yes I agree sometimes the sky is not clear enough, but have you tried? Have you taken a moment in the day to listen to the call of the birds around you – all you hear is the honking of impatient drivers – trying to run the amber traffic light. When was the last time you took your picnic basket and sat under a tree with your friends or family and enjoyed time spent amidst nature?

I can help you answer yes to those questions and believe me – all the questions will be answered in one weekend – any weekend you are free. All you must do is get up and decide to break the chain of routine and do something different. For those who do not know, Mahindra Adventure is an experiential marketing arm for Mahindra Auto Sector and we specialize in curating adventurous drives, events and expeditions that will surely take you out of your comfort zone no doubt, but it will help you realize what you are missing and get you hooked on to exploring new places on four-wheels in your Mahindra SUVs.

We have an array of events we do throughout the year ranging from off-road competitions, to off-road trail drives to multi-day overland self-driving expeditions in India and abroad. It so happens that most of us do not get that much time to venture out on a holiday and so be it, that was the reason the idea of camping popped up and thus was born – ‘Camp Outs.’

Mahindra Adventure’s Camp Out property is focused on short format getaways from the city and it is molded to give you and your family and friends a weekend to remember for a lifetime. Camp Outs are held between the months of October to Feb and this year’s calendar will be put on the website. Since it is Mahindra Adventure and we all are passionate about off-roading and adventure, well, our Camp Outs do have a twist and taste of just that.

Remember the questions we were to answer together, well this is how the NO turns to YES – together we make it happen. Take a weekend off, drive with us to an undisclosed location in your Mahindra vehicle and I am sure once you reach the campsite you will be like – just 2 hours from home! I never expected this. All our campsites are relatively close to the city amidst nature and that is what makes it special. A surprise night trail drive through a forest, singing around a bonfire, a barbeque dinner, jumping into the sleeping bags inside the tent and all you can hear is the sound of the wind hitting your tent and the laughter and singing of those who carry on late into the night. The perfect end to a good day out in the open. Waking up to the strong rays of the morning sun, birds chirping, garam chai, and breakfast. Peace and serenity are what will blow you away and help you relax. But it is not over, and we do not wish for you to get too lazy. We make sure we indulge in one adventure sport available – it may be river rafting or parasailing or cycling or yoga or rock climbing – a way to earn our lunch. After that, a quick 101 on the ‘Art of Off-Roading’ – a basic crash course on off-roading and we make our way back home. By evening you are home, refreshed, and rejuvenated.

Yes, this is what a camping weekend with Mahindra Camp Outs looks like, it is a quick getaway from the city into a different world altogether – a world that will literally give you a feeling of being alive and spending time away from the hum-drum of the city.

Since I started with Don McLean, I will end with a paragraph from him – ” Now I understand What you tried to say to me How you suffered for your sanity How you tried to set them free. They would not listen They did not know-how Perhaps they'll listen now”
